HARBOUR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE

Our journey started in April 1983 when Harbour Shipping was founded to offer Customs Clearance solutions to UK and European road freight operators. We were proud to be one of the founding members of the Dover Customs Clearance community when we began trading and remain proud to be an established successful business in Dover with clients around the UK and Europe. 

 

In 1983, way before the Maastricht Treaty was signed in 1992, every single freight movement was held and processed under Customs controls in the Port of arrival or departure. Documents were manually completed, initially by hand and then by typewriter, which was way before computerisation that we take for granted today. 

 

As an independent agent, Harbour Shipping Ltd provides UK Customs clearance today for both roll-on roll-off vehicles at every port throughout the UK and Deep Sea container movements through the majority of the UK’s ports. Upon request we can also offer solutions at most UK airports. The service we provide is facilitated by our dedicated professional team at one of our UK offices around the clock 24/7. We do not outsource to third parties.

A WEALTH OF INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

Since our foundation in 1983, Harbour Shipping Ltd has offered a constantly expanding and innovating range of services to an increasingly diverse client base spread across the length and breadth of the UK and Europe. The UK’s exit from the European Union led us to adapt further still and offer yet more services to our ever increasing range of clients.

So today, in addition to Customs Clearance, we operate comprehensive European ferry-booking services for freight vehicles on all major, and most minor routes, including the UK South Coast ports, the North Sea, Irish Sea, Western Channel routes, Scandinavia, Baltic Sea and Mediterranean Sea.

We provide European toll tags and badges, with credit facilities on the transit of French, Belgian, Spanish, Italian, Austrian, German and Portuguese motorway networks and the Alpine tunnels. We also operate our own Bureau de Change facility.

 

Harbour Shipping has two offices located in both the Eastern and Western Docks of Dover. Our Dover Western Docks office is open around-the-clock 24/7. This is staffed by long-serving experienced customer service personnel.
